These are the four newcomers selected by the Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund (BRMF) for this years Manx Grand Prix. They receive funding from the BRMF to help them with the costs of competing at the event. They fly the flag for the BRMF and help promote the charity. Every year we help 4 riders. We have helped 23 riders to date.  Tim Walsh (top left) Callum Pert ( top right) Damien Crook ( bottom left) and Aidan Cleary (bottom right) The Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund supported these four Mountain Course newcomers at this year’s 2024 Manx Grand Prix (18th-26th August). We also raised £1,700 pounds at our fundraiser at the Mitre Hotel in Ramsey, thank you to Carl Joughin for the use of the room and Hayley Coxon for hosting the interviews.

Albert Walker writes: Well!.. In a months time, myself, Aaron and Benjamin are off on our next adventure! The Monkey Run! This time we're off to Peru! We'll be riding from Ayyucucho going across the Andes mountains and into the Amazon Rainforest to the finish, travelling around 1000km over 8 days on all kinds of terrain on tiiiiinyyy little motorcycles. Monkey Bikes! Check out the photos to see what these 5hp, 90cc little beast are all about! We've also vowed to take this on without the use of our phones for navigation and accommodation so I'm sure that's gonna make things interesting! In doing so I'm trying to raise a bit of cash for The Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund which is very dear to my heart. These guys supported me in a big way when I was taking on the Manx Grand Prix as a newcomer. I genuinely might not have managed it without them. So if you'd like to sponsor us a few quid that would be amazing! And be sure to check out their page. I've set up a gofundme with the link below. Any support will be really appreciated. I'll try and post updates and maybe some videos on how we're doing along the way to the best of my abilities (not sure how the signal is in mountain ranges and jungles tbh) you can also track us through the Monkey Run website or the wayward App. (More on that to follow) Cannot wait to get started! (maybe also a little nervous) wish us luck! https://gofund.me/3e1abc5e

  • 0 The Billy Redmayne Trophy

ARMY Motorcycle Road Race Team The Billy Redmayne Trophy Billy Redmayne was a soldier in the Parachute Regiment and completed three tours in Afghanistan. He was also a motorcycle road racer, winning the Newcomers Manx Grand Prix in 2014 and the Junior Manx Grand Prix a year later along with many other races. Tragically, Billy lost his life in an accident at Oliver's Mount in April 2016 and ever since then an award has been given in his honor. At the end of the racing season, we award the Billy Redmayne Trophy to a team member who has shown the most team spirit, dedication and commitment throughout the past season. The team is honoured to announce this year's winner, and thoroughly deserving of the recognition this award holds; Sgt Richard 'Spence' Spencer-Fleet, REME. Spence joined the team 10 years ago and has been a fundamental part of the development of the team. His dedication and hard work has been pivotal to shaping the team into what it is today, with riders racing in multiple championships and at the highest levels of British Motorsport. Spence himself has seen multiple championship wins and more podiums that we can count through the decade he's been with the team. There’s not a rider on the team today who doesn't owe Spence a debt of gratitude for the infinite knowledge and wisdom he has passed on in the sport. His relentless work in the background with sponsors and the admin side of things has put the team in the best position it has ever been in. Sadly, after serving a full military career, Spence is retiring from the team and from the military. The team can not express their gratuity enough for all he has done. The team has commissioned a one-off helmet capturing some of his best moments through the years, as a small token of our appreciation. A very worthy winner of the Billy Redmayne Trophy, the team wishes Spence all the best for the future as he transitions to civilian life.
